Also known as:  Yellow Cypress, Gulf Cypress, Red Cypress, Southern Cypress, Swamp Cypress, and White Cypress.

Scientific Name: Taxodium distichum

An amazing species of wood found growing in the south eastern United States. Specifically in the lowlands, swamps, and deltas of East Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida. Yellow Cypress is a household favorite in the south. It's found in many historical architectural projects dating back centuries and was well known as one of Frank LLoyd Wright's favorite species.  Cypress is well known to hold up well in exterior environments where moisture is prevalent. nd known to grow tall, wide, and straight, making it the perfect material for beams.
